Dear Lord,

I want to be a good dad.

I don’t want to be an absentee dad.

I want to be a present dad.

I don’t want to just be there for their games.

I want to be there before and after their games as well.

I want to encourage them, even if it isn’t in something that I would have been a part of as a kid.

I want to be there for them. I want to encourage them.

Help me to not lose my temper with them.

Never let my last touch of the day be a touch of discipline.

Let the life I lead be a good example to them.

Let me hug them more. Let me kiss them often. Let me play with them every second that I can.

Lord, I’m tired.  When I finally get to be with them tonight, I’ll be on my very last reserves of energy.

Help me.

I want to be a good dad.

Tim
