I love you, my son.

That, I promise.

You’re my son, bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.

I loved you yesterday, I love you today, I’ll love you tomorrow.

Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not talking about a feeling.

Our culture says that love is a feeling. Don’t believe the lie.

Love is a sacrificial commitment, as defined by Jesus’ action on our part.

So, when I say I love you I mean this.

I’m committed to you.  I’ll stand by you, no matter what.  I’ll discipline you when you need it.

I’ll cheer you on every day of my life.

I will hope for you, pray for you, grant my peace to you, let you know how proud I am of you.

I. Won’t. Let. You. Go.

I won’t disown you.

There will never be a time when you aren’t my son.

I love you, my son.

That, I promise.
